As of 9:00 PM today, the route has reopened to regional, long-distance passenger, and freight trains. The project\u2019s completion was announced at a ceremony in Leverkusen attended by DB InfraGO CEO Philipp Nagl and Oliver Krischer, the Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The renovation work covered a stretch of approximately 65 kilometers. Since February 6, more than 550 employees from DB and its contractors have been working to upgrade and repair tracks, switches, and the overhead contact line. Additionally, twelve stations were modernized as part of the project. Throughout the five-month period, the company maintained passenger and freight services using temporary routes and replacement transport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DB InfraGO also reported that the project\u2019s projected cost came in tens of millions of euros below initial estimates.
