With a capacity of 24,000 TEU, the vessel is the world\u2019s largest container ship powered by this type of fuel. The volume of bio-LNG supplied totaled 11,125 cubic meters, making this one of the largest operations of its kind globally and the largest bunkering operation in CMA CGM\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fuel used was produced in Europe from biomethane derived from agricultural and organic waste. The bio-LNG delivery was performed using a TotalEnergies bunkering vessel. The CMA CGM Notre Dame, which entered service in May 2026 under the French flag, is designed to run on LNG and is fully compatible with bio-LNG, as well as future synthetic fuels such as e-methane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new container ship has a capacity of 24,212 TEU and is equipped with 1,600 reefer plugs. CMA CGM continues to expand one of the world\u2019s largest fleets of dual-fuel vessels and invest in the decarbonization of maritime transport.
