Kazakhstan and China are increasing capacity on the Nur Zholy-Khorgos border.

The State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan and the Customs Administration of China have agreed to extend the round-the-clock operation of the Nur Zholy-Khorgos checkpoints until June 30, 2026. This decision was made following a meeting between the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Zhanzhos Duisembiev and the head of the Chinese department Sun Meijun, the Committee reported.

The parties also approved a set of measures to increase throughput capacity. By September 2025, it is planned to increase the daily reception of vehicles from China through Nur Zholy to 1,000 cars, and through the Kalzhat checkpoint – to 300. Also, by the end of May 2025, a mobile inspection and screening complex will be deployed at the Dulaty checkpoint, and by September, similar stationary equipment will appear at the Chinese Khorgos checkpoint.

To speed up the processes, it is planned to expand the border bridge and increase the number of traffic lanes at the Nur Zholy-Khorgos crossing, as well as optimize routes through the Khorgos ICBC. These measures are aimed at strengthening border logistics and increasing the efficiency of cargo flows between the countries.
