Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili discussed key areas of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, focusing on the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor. In 2024, the volume of freight traffic between the countries reached almost a million tons by road and over 2.7 million tons by rail.

The parties noted the significant potential of the Trans-Caspian International Route (TCIR) and the importance of trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in developing container transportation in the China-Europe direction. The discussion focused on the Middle Corridor Multimodal joint venture, founded in 2023, which has become a tool for coordinating multimodal services and proposals under the “single window” model with clear deadlines and tariffs.

Mariam Kvrivishvili presented infrastructure initiatives implemented with the support of the Georgian government: the construction of the Anaklia deep-water port, the East-West highway, the development of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and the modernization of the country’s entire railway network – projects that directly enhance the connectivity of the Middle Corridor and the transit role of the region.
