The management of Kazlogistics STK and the international holding Eurasian Caspian Trans discussed the development of transit transportation along the North-South corridor during a meeting in Astana. The focus is on strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation with Iran, which intends to increase trade turnover with Kazakhstan to $3 billion. In 2024, grain supplies to Iran doubled, reaching 526 thousand tons.
To improve the efficiency of the route, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran signed a “roadmap” for the synchronous development of the eastern section of the North-South corridor for 2024-2025. Transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport and transit corridor has also intensified. These initiatives help attract investment and create favorable conditions for trade within the framework of the free trade agreement between the EAEU and Iran.
Eurasian Caspian Trans, part of the Iranian holding Arzesh Afarinan Fadak, provides rail transportation services in international and domestic traffic. In July 2023, the first stage of the China-Iran-Europe railway corridor was put into operation in Iran, which strengthens the transit potential of the region.
