During the meeting between the Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev and the Vice Minister of Communications, Railways and Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, prospects for cooperation in the railway and maritime transport sectors were discussed. Important topics included issues related to the holding of an intergovernmental commission, expert meetings and the upcoming visit of the Kazakh delegation to Pakistan in the first half of this year.
The Deputy Head of the Transport Department of Kazakhstan emphasized the readiness to cooperate with Pakistan, highlighting the need to develop an effective transport and logistics system, which will play a key role in enhancing partnership relations. According to information from the Ministry of Transport, it is currently possible to organize multimodal transport along the route Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan using rail transport. As part of the negotiations, the Kazakh side expressed interest in cooperation in the maritime sector, proposing the joint development of international transport corridors North-South and TMTM.
