Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are expanding trade and economic cooperation.

The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, made important statements for the media after the negotiations and the meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. The main focus of the meeting was on the development of new projects in industry, as well as cooperation in the transport and logistics sector.

Tokayev emphasized the need for the effective use of the Trans-Caspian route and the North-South corridor. The parties discussed joint projects, including the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway and the opening of new border checkpoints, which, according to him, will give a new impetus to mutual trade.

The President of Kazakhstan also noted that the countries intend to increase trade turnover to five billion dollars, and then to 10 billion. To this end, it is planned to expand the range of products and eliminate economic barriers. In addition, they discussed increasing cooperation in agriculture, where trade turnover has already reached 1.7 billion dollars.
