Kazakhstan offers Armenia a transport route through Iran

Kazakhstan offers Armenia to use the transport corridor through Iran to deliver goods to Central Asia and China. According to the director of the Astana Diplomatic Club, Kaiyrbolat Sakhmetov, Armenian carriers are recommended to more actively use the Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan route. Goods from Armenia can be transported through Iran to a land port on the border with Turkmenistan, from where trains will depart in the direction of Kazakhstan, Central Asian countries and China.

In October 2023, a delegation from Kazakhstan, led by Kaiyrbolat Sakhmetov, expressed interest in using Turkmenistan’s transport infrastructure to export Kazakh goods. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of transit of goods from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan and the use of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway as the shortest route between East Asia and the Persian Gulf countries.
