Kazakhstan strengthens its position on the Middle Corridor: cargo flow has increased fivefold.

From 2021 to 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor (Central Trans-Caspian Route) increased more than fivefold — from 840 thousand to 4.5 million tons per year. According to a joint report by the Astana International Financial Center and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy at ADA University, Kazakhstan accounts for 63% of the total volume of transportation, confirming its key role in the development of the route.

Against the backdrop of the growth in volumes, delivery time has also significantly decreased — from 38–58 days to 19–23 days. This became possible thanks to the modernization of infrastructure and the coordinated work of the countries participating in the route.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development predicts that by 2030, cargo traffic along the corridor will grow to 10 million tons per year. By 2040, the volume of container transportation may reach 130 thousand TEU, and with the implementation of large infrastructure projects — up to 865 thousand TEU.
