On June 17-18, 2025, Astana hosted a key event in the field of transport logistics in Central Asia – the international conference KAZAKHSTAN TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS FORUM: TRANSIT POTENTIAL AND INFRASTRUCTURE.

The forum was attended by over 120 delegates from 15 countries.

The forum presented key initiatives in the field of railway, port and multimodal logistics, transit routes and digital solutions.

The meeting began with a welcome coffee and communication in a relaxed atmosphere. Then we moved on to Session 1, where the moderator was Kanat Kerimovich Kobesov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NurZholCompany LLP, Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Exporters “KazGrain”.

Kanat Kobessov also opened the Session with the topic “Development of transport logistics: who will be behind the wheel?”.

Afterwards, Olzhas Onalov, Deputy General Director for Commerce and Development at “Eastcomtrans” LLP, spoke, highlighting the logistics solutions of Istkomtrans in the field of grain and agricultural exports through the Zhetygen TLC.

Then we listened to Liliana Krutonog, General Director of MALBI trans s.r.o. She spoke about the transit potential of Kazakhstan and opportunities for European freight forwarders.

Timur Ermekov, Chief Banker at the EBRD – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, gave an overview of the bank’s projects and priorities. He spoke about attracting investments in logistics projects using the EBRD’s activities in the transport sector of Kazakhstan as an example.

Then Vincent Hascoet, Head of Business Development at HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG International GmbH, spoke about maritime logistics on the TMTM route.

Session 1-1 was closed by Mohammad Jaber, General Director of Combi Lift MEA, with the topic “Project logistics: innovation and sustainability”.

After the coffee break, the forum continued with Session 2: Digitalization and transformation of services and routes, which was opened by Daniyar Duissemaliyev, Managing Director of TIS-SERVISE, with the topic “The impact of logistics business automation using information systems on transport corridors”.

Anuar Sarsembinov, Co-founder of Multicode, continued, talking about the automation of railway transportation planning using AI.

After him, Farid Aliyev, General Director of ALC-Interlegal, and Irina Maltseva, Lawyer of Interlegal, spoke on the special topic: “Container transportation: how to protect your interests when something went wrong?”.

After lunch, the participants returned to the hall for Session 3: International railway transportation – new services and routes. The moderator was Liliana Krutonog, General Director of MALBI-trans s.r.o.

Session 3 was opened by Ramiya Sarayeva, General Director, Association of Kazakhstan Freight Railway Carriers, presenting the topic of tariff policy for railway transportation in Kazakhstan.

FATİH YILMAZKARASU, General Director of Railport Terminali, continued by presenting the intermodal trade bridge connecting the East and the West – RAILPORT.

Alberto Grisone, Director of Strategic Projects and Network Development at Hupac Intermodal S.A., raised the topic of international rail transportation, namely new services and routes.

Session 3 was concluded by Nikita Zhukov, Chief Operating Officer at PTC Cargo, with the topic of “Development of terminal infrastructure on the TMTM route”.

After a short coffee break, we moved on to the Panel Discussion on the topic of “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route – TMTM: Challenges, Competition and Real Prospects”, moderated by Dmitrij Hasenkampf, General Director of Sales and Business Development at RTSB GmbH- Rail Transportation Service Broker.

As part of the discussion, the participants raised the topics of:

  • the current state of development of the TMTM route,
  • ways to accelerate the Middle Corridor,
  • attracting new cargo owners,
  • the impact of sanctions pressure.

After a short coffee break, we moved on to the second Panel Discussion: “Multimodal Transportation: Strategies for Building Effective Logistics”. The moderator was Kubatbek Rakhimov, Valdai Discussion Club expert, Director of the Center for Strategic Solutions “Applicata”.

The forum participants spent the evening at a gala dinner, communicating, making new acquaintances and discussing projects.

The second day of the forum was spent with a technical excursion to the Zhetygen TLC terminal, where the work of the cargo handling station was presented.
