On July 17, 2025, a working meeting with the Trade and Economic Counselor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium Aizhan Musakanova was held at the office of the Union of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan – Kazlogistics. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors, as well as the preparation of the upcoming Trade Mission of Belgian companies in Tashkent, Almaty and Astana, scheduled for November 2025. Kazlogistics CEO Kanat Almagambetov expressed interest in establishing direct contacts with Belgian companies specializing in transport infrastructure, multimodal transportation and digitalization of logistics.
Kazakhstan views Belgium as a key partner in the EU, with advanced logistics technologies and large seaports such as Antwerp and Zeebrugge. The cooperation will focus on the development of transit corridors, in particular the Middle Transit Corridor (TITR), which links China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus and Europe, as well as the creation of efficient multimodal routes and direct rail links with Belgian ports. Particular attention will be paid to the development of dry ports, container terminals and IT cargo monitoring systems in Kazakhstan.
In addition, the parties are actively discussing the implementation of digital solutions and green technologies in logistics – electronic consignment notes, blockchain, smart warehouses, as well as sustainable transport development using electric vans and route optimization to reduce CO₂ emissions. The interaction will be implemented through bilateral meetings, delegations and the participation of Belgian companies in international forums, such as Kazlogistics and Transport Week, contributing to the expansion of transport corridors and strengthening the export infrastructure of Eurasia.
