Khorgos handled the jubilee, 50,000th China-Europe train.

The Khorgos border railway port celebrated a significant milestone: the 50,000th freight train since the terminal began operations traveled through Kazakhstan to Poland. This milestone train carries electronics, mechanical and electrical equipment, and consumer goods.

According to Globaltimes.cn, the flow of China-Europe and China-Central Asia trains through Khorgos continues to grow, with more than 27 trains passing through daily. Since the beginning of 2024, the port has already handled over 1,500 trains—a 20% increase year-on-year—while traffic volume increased by 18% to four million tons.

The growth in transit is driven not only by growing demand but also by the implementation of new digital solutions. In May, Khorgos Customs launched the “Smart Railway Port + Fast Clearance” program, reducing customs clearance time from several days to 16 hours for imports and one hour for exports. According to Zhang Kun, Deputy Head of Customs, 24-hour clearance and the creation of a “green corridor” allow for faster cargo release and increased efficiency in train traffic along the China-Europe route.
