Waberer’s International has signed a cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan’s KTZ Express to establish a joint venture for the development and operation of an intermodal terminal near Budapest.

The partnership covers both infrastructure development and container traffic management along the China–Europe corridor. KTZ Express will oversee the transport segment across Asia, while Waberer’s will take over rail and road logistics within Europe.

The terminal near Budapest is expected to serve as a consolidation hub for cargo arriving via rail and sea connections through Central Asia. Kazakhstan plays a central transit role in the TITR, which already handles several hundred thousand TEUs annually, with volumes reportedly rising.

This agreement follows Waberer’s previous actions aimed at expanding its rail logistics operations. In 2024, the company acquired a majority stake in Petrolsped Group and also signed a memorandum with GYSEV CARGO. These actions are part of Waberer’s long-term strategy running through 2031, which includes diversifying its logistics services and integrating intermodal operations.
