KTZ opened double-track traffic on the Moiynty-Balkhash section ahead of schedule.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) announced the early launch of double-track freight traffic on the Moiynty-Balkhash section as part of the construction of second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty railway line. On the 127-kilometer section, work has been completed to connect the signaling, centralization and blocking systems, and the new infrastructure has successfully passed the test of a mobile diagnostic complex.

The 836-kilometer project is planned to be fully completed this summer. KTZ noted that the main construction work is nearing completion: 769 km of rail and sleeper grid have been laid, 99% of excavation work has been completed, 255 out of 259 reinforced concrete pipes and 88 out of 92 bridges have been installed. Signaling, communication and power supply systems are also being installed, more than 630 km of cable have been laid and almost 13 thousand supports for high-voltage lines have been installed.

The project is one of the largest infrastructure initiatives of KTZ aimed at developing the railway network of Kazakhstan. As a result of its implementation, the capacity of the freight-intensive Dostyk-Moiynty line will increase fivefold, which will significantly improve the efficiency of transportation.
