Kundziņsala is becoming Riga’s new industrial hub – investments over 500 million euros.

Kundziņsala is becoming the largest industrial zone in the port of Riga and Latvia. In the coming years, at least seven new enterprises will open here – terminals, logistics centres, alternative fuel and smart industry component factories. This will create about 800 jobs and attract more than 500 million euros in investments. The key project will be the Amber Flow Fuels plant for the production of renewable fuels (HVO and SAF), which will meet the needs of the entire Baltic market for SAF and export 70% of the production, strengthening Latvia’s position in the global market.

Kundziņsala will also become a centre for the production of wind energy technologies. With the support of the state and the EU, a modern production of components for offshore and onshore wind turbines will be established here by 2029, which will provide 650 new jobs and up to 160 million euros in export revenue per year. The region is actively developing as a strategic object of military mobility and cooperation with NATO – berths, roads and railways are being modernized, a new icebreaker with hybrid propulsion has been purchased, the port’s capabilities for servicing military and cargo operations are being expanded.

An important element of the development will be the new overpass from Sarkandaugava, which will connect Kundzinsala with the transport network of Riga and relieve the city center of cargo traffic. One of the most modern port checkpoints in Europe with a digital logistics system and automatic access control is under construction. Today, Kundzinsala already handles 72% of all container cargo in Latvia, and the Port of Riga continues to develop its terminal infrastructure, creating conditions for export growth, sustainable energy and military mobility of the country.
