At a press conference on the results of the first half of 2024, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev said that Kyrgyzstan is considering the possibility of using the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Currently, the bulk of cargo traffic passes through the southern corridor, which includes routes through Iran and Turkey to Europe and back. However, alternative routes are being considered that can speed up transportation, in particular, the Middle Corridor through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and the Caucasus.

The Minister noted that these projects are being actively discussed with European partners and Central Asian countries. The Middle Corridor is an important part of container rail freight transport, connecting China and the European Union countries through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey and Eastern Europe.

This multi-layer multimodal transport route includes ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas and the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine and Poland. One of the main advantages of this corridor is the ability to deliver goods from China to Europe in an average of 20-25 days.
