In the first six months of 2025, air cargo volumes in Europe grew by 0.6% year-on-year, exceeding 2019 figures by more than 10.4%. However, a decline of 8.4% was recorded in June, and growth in the second quarter was only 0.1%.

According to ACI Europe, Frankfurt am Main remains the leader in cargo turnover (+1%, 968.4 thousand tons), followed by Istanbul (-4.9%, 941.6 thousand tons), and London Heathrow (+2.3%). The airports that showed the greatest progress were Liege (+10.2%), Madrid (+8.9%) and Cologne (+3.5%).

Liege explains the growth by expanding cooperation with new airlines and logistics operators. The airport’s CEO, Laurent Jaussard, noted that the portfolio already includes more than 40 airlines and 50 logistics partners, including Hong Kong Air Cargo, My Freighter Airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines, Ninatrans and Fracht Group. According to him, this allows for diversification of activities, and the outlook for the second half of the year remains equally positive.
