JSC Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty (LKZ) has successfully delivered 451 freight, 83 passenger and 19 shunting locomotives to KTZ-Freight Transportation LLC and plans to deliver another 128 freight and 11 passenger locomotives by 2027. Locomotives of the TE33A, TE33AS, TEP33A and TEM11 series are manufactured under supply and maintenance agreements, and are also repaired jointly with Kamkor Locomotive LLC at eight sites across Kazakhstan.

LKZ has launched production of fifth-generation locomotives of the Evolution series, equipped with modern control and diagnostic systems. The TE33A model with an asynchronous traction drive replaces outdated two-section locomotives and reduces emissions by 40%, as well as reduces fuel consumption by 17%. To improve efficiency, the Trip Optimizer system is being implemented on diesel locomotives, automating speed control taking into account the terrain and other conditions, which helps reduce fuel consumption.

In the summer, Wabtec opened an engineering center in Astana, where engineers develop environmentally friendly technologies for the railway sector. Also, a test bench for GEVO12 locomotive engines was launched at the Astana Diesel Service center, which improves the reliability and quality of major repairs by simulating real operating conditions.
