This rail link aims to streamline transport logistics between Poland’s northern maritime gateways and the economic centers located in its interior.

Loconi Intermodal has introduced a new intermodal rail connection linking the ports of Gdynia with Łódź in central Poland. The service connects two terminals at the Port of Gdynia—the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) and the Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT)—with intermodal terminals in Łódź, specifically the iHub and Centrostal Łódź.

The newly launched service operates twice weekly, providing exporters and importers with a direct rail link between central Poland and the Baltic Sea ports. This initiative follows the previous introduction of a similar service connecting Gdańsk Baltic Hub to Łódź in October 2024, currently running three times per week.

The Gdynia–Łódź connection is part of Loconi Intermodal’s domestic network expansion, aimed at promoting intermodal transport solutions within Poland. Rail-road intermodal transportation emphasizes reduced CO₂ emissions, improved transport safety, and operational stability, along with cost efficiency.

The terminals involved in the latest connection, BCT and GCT, handle substantial container traffic in Gdynia, while the iHub and Centrostal terminals serve as central logistic hubs in Łódź, benefiting from their proximity to major regional logistics centers such as Stryków, Pabianice, and Zduńska Wola.
