LTG Cargo is expanding its intermodal rail network by adding two new routes: Kaunas-Lodz and Lodz-Duisburg. Lodz will now become a new hub on the existing Kaunas-Duisburg route, strengthening connections between Lithuania, Germany and Poland.
TG Cargo CEO Egle Šime noted that the growing need for combining different modes of transport requires active development of intermodal solutions. Before launching the new routes, test runs will be carried out in June. In the future, the terminal in Lodz will offer first and last kilometre services, complementing the existing hubs in Kaunas and Duisburg.
The new railway hub will provide access to Polish ports and Italy, and the expansion of the network will increase the company’s contribution to reducing emissions: in 2024, LTG Cargo managed to save more than 30 thousand tonnes of CO₂, and with the new routes, this figure will continue to grow.
