In Kazakhstan, the volume of freight transport by sea for January–November 2025 reached 3.62 million tons, a 41.4% increase compared to the same period last year. These data were released by the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms. The growth in freight turnover indicates the increasing role of maritime logistics in the country’s export, import, and transit flows.
Meanwhile, passenger transportation by sea for the first 11 months of 2025 decreased to 19,000 people, an 81.2% decrease compared to the previous year. This sharp decline reflects a decline in demand for maritime passenger transport and a shift in the structure of public transport mobility.
Again, inland waterway transport demonstrated mixed dynamics. Freight transport by inland waterways amounted to 197,700 tons, a 43.5% decrease compared to January–November 2024. At the same time, passenger traffic by this mode of transport increased by 9.5% and reached 253 thousand people, which indicates continued interest in river transport in certain regions of the country.
