Meeting of the TRACECA Business Council: Prospects for the development of multimodal transport

On February 6, 2024, a meeting was held to discuss the Basic Provisions of the TRACECA Business Council in a video conference format. The Permanent Secretariat, National Secretaries, and experts from the MHI participating countries took part. The creation of the Business Council is aimed at forming business opinions on the development of the TRACECA corridor, expanding economic cooperation in the region and improving interaction between business and government agencies in the field of cargo transportation.

The main task of the Business Council is to support public-private dialogue for the development of multimodal transport within the TRACECA corridor, with improved interaction of all stakeholders and coordination to ensure interoperability of transport and infrastructure development. At the meeting, proposals from Azerbaijan and Turkey were discussed, 7 out of 9 points considered were agreed upon, and some issues will be discussed further at a meeting with business representatives to form a conceptual approach to transportation along the TRACECA corridor. The Permanent Secretariat will continue to work on finalizing the text of the Regulations, taking into account the positions of the parties.
