In 2022, METRANS began providing connection services to Ukraine, providing transportation of various goods across the Slovak-Ukrainian border in both directions. Recently, during the European Eastern holidays, METRANS and Ukrzaliznytsya reached an important milestone by launching the first train on the Medyka border between Poland and the Ukrainian Mostyska.
This first train marks the start of regular services between the European network and key Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv and Odessa, where HHLA operates the CTO terminal. The cooperation between Ukrzaliznytsia and METRANS highlights a fruitful partnership aimed at facilitating the movement of goods to and from Ukraine.
Martin Koubek, who oversees the METRANS network’s connections to countries with 1520 mm wide railway tracks, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, emphasizing its importance in providing reliable services to customers. The planned connection will allow the establishment of a regular route between the METRANS terminal Dabrowa Gornica in Poland and Mostyska in Ukraine, which will facilitate the efficient delivery of goods throughout Europe and Ukraine.
