KTZ Express JSC, together with the Chinese operator China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd. (CRCT), launched a new railway route for freight transportation between China and Afghanistan. The first train, which departed on February 10, 2024 from Tuanjiecun Station (Chongqing City, PRC), delivered 55 containers with telecommunications equipment.

The route runs through China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Trains cross the Chinese border in Khorgos, go through the Kazakh station of Altynkol, Uzbekistan’s Galaba and reach the final destination in the city of Hairatan (Afghanistan). Travel time is 12-15 days.

The launch of this route strengthens the strategic role of Kazakhstan in the international Trans-Afghan Transport Corridor, expanding the region’s logistics capabilities and promoting the development of trade ties.
