Ocean Network Express (ONE) proudly announces the Approval in Principle (AiP) for a cutting-edge Ammonia Dual-fueled vessel, solidifying its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. This achievement follows ONE’s strategic investment in 12 methanol dual-fueled vessels, reflecting the company’s significant strides toward sustainable shipping practices.
The AiP-awarded 3,500 TEU vessel is the outcome of collaborative efforts between ONE, Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. (NSY), and classification society DNV. Established in late 2022, this joint development project underscores the industry’s collective dedication to embracing cleaner and more environmentally friendly maritime solutions.
Aligned with its 2022 roadmap for alternative fuels, ONE has been diligently exploring the viability of ammonia as a zero-emission alternative. The company actively participated in a safety study for ammonia bunkering, led by GCMD, showcasing its proactive approach to ensuring the safe integration of innovative and sustainable fuel sources in the maritime sector.
