PKP LHS invests in infrastructure development and prepares for post-war growth in transport with Ukraine.

The Polish company PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa (LHS), which operates a broad-gauge railway between Poland and Ukraine, is actively expanding and modernizing its infrastructure in anticipation of increased traffic volumes after the war. Ukraine, in particular iron ore (43% of the total volume). for a significant increase in exports to Ukraine, especially in the segment of construction materials needed for the country’s reconstruction.

To prepare for the increase in volumes, PKP LHS is investing in automated control centers. These projects should increase the railway’s capacity and ensure stable operation along the entire route.

In addition, the company is focusing on the development of intermodal transport, which is becoming increasingly important. PKP LHS is considering purchasing new locomotives and container platforms to expand transport capabilities.
