Investing over PLN 82 million, the Port of Gdańsk has successfully completed a significant project aimed at enhancing infrastructure in the Inner Port. As part of the long-term investment strategy, the project focused on the Przemysłowe Quay area, bringing improvements to land-side communication, optimizing cargo handling, and facilitating the commercialization of new investment zones. The comprehensive initiative involved the reconstruction of road and rail systems, spanning Przemysłowe Quay to Ku Ujście street and Chemików street to the ferry crossing along Bosmańska street through the Kaszubski Canal.
The recently concluded project, titled ‘Extension and Modernisation of the Core Network Node,’ included the upgrade of 1.6 km of roads and approximately 6 km of tracks, all constructed using advanced cement concrete technology. Beyond road and rail enhancements, the endeavor featured the reconstruction of water, sanitary, electricity, and teletechnical networks, along with the creation of stormwater drainage systems and street lighting. With the completion of this initiative, Kamil Tarczewski, Vice-President of the Port of Gdańsk, acknowledged it as the concluding phase of the largest investment program since 2016, co-financed by EU funds.
While marking a significant milestone, this accomplishment signals ongoing commitment, as the Inner Port looks ahead to the ‘Improving Access to the Port of Gdańsk – Modernisation of Fairway 2’ project. Securing funding for this venture, the Inner Port anticipates expanding four quays with a combined length of nearly 2 km, along with upgrading rail infrastructure. Notably, the Wiślane and Bytomskie quays align with the port channel, while the Rudowe III and partially the Węglowe quays are situated in the Górniczy basin. These projects affirm the Port of Gdańsk’s dedication to comprehensive development, catering not only to the Outer Port but also prioritizing the needs of customers utilizing universal quays.
