PSA Antwerp and Lineas have announced the launch of a new rail service directly connecting the PSA terminal in the port of Zeebrugge with the Noordzee Terminal in Antwerp. The first container train departed on 27 May 2025, and from 2 June the line began operating regularly, three times a week in both directions. This re-establishment of an important rail route was a highlight at the Transport Logistics trade fair in Munich.
The new connection is part of PSA’s commitment to multimodal solutions and improved hinterland connectivity. According to PSA, the route will enable up to 26,000 TEU to be transported between the two ports annually. For Lineas, the project is important as part of its strategy to transition from road to rail transport, in the fight against congestion and CO₂ emissions.
Lineas is responsible for the operational part of the route. Upon arrival in Antwerp, the train stops at the MainHub terminal, where the export cargo is consolidated and empty containers are loaded, increasing the efficiency of the transport. Both companies emphasize that this joint solution brings the implementation of sustainable logistics chains closer and supports the EU’s climate goals.
