Railtrans International (RTI) has acquired a 50% stake in the Romanian EP Rail, through which it enters the Romanian rail freight sector.
The Slovak company operates within the Richardi Transport logistics network and has a presence in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. With the addition of Romania, the group extends its operational footprint in Central and Eastern Europe.

EP Rail, founded and managed by the Gheorghiu family, retains the remaining 50% share. The company owns a fleet of 23 locomotives and over 3,300 freight wagons, handling more than 8 million tonnes of cargo per year.
The new shareholder structure allows EP Rail to continue functioning independently, with no changes announced to its operational management.
