ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is expanding its TransNET network with a new direct connection between Budapest and Curtici, Romania – two key logistics hubs connecting Western, Central, and Southeastern Europe. The route connects the region’s largest intermodal terminal, BILK, with Romania’s gateway to the Balkans and Turkey.
The new TransFER Budapest–Curtici service includes a weekly intermodal roundtrip with the option to increase the frequency to two times depending on demand. It handles a wide range of freight units, from 20–45-foot containers to swap bodies and crane-hazardous semi-trailers, including hazardous goods according to RID.
The route is integrated into existing RCG routes such as Budapest–Duisburg, Budapest–Zeebrugge, and Wels–Vienna–Budapest, providing customers with seamless transport chains, fewer transhipments, and shorter transit times between key European economic hubs.
