Regular rail freight services have begun between Chongqing, a major metropolis in southwestern China, and Central Asia. The first train carrying a batch of polyester granules crossed the border at Khorgos and headed to Tashkent, covering a distance of 4,700 kilometers in about 12 days.

Trains on the new route will depart twice a month. Senior engineer Xu Meiqiong emphasized that the service will ensure accelerated customs clearance, timely delivery and a reduction in overall logistics costs, which will strengthen trade ties between the western regions of China and Central Asian countries.

The launch of the route is expected to reduce the delivery time of goods from Chongqing to Central Asia by more than 30%, increasing the efficiency of trade and logistics in the region.
