Rhenus Group is increasing its investment in Southeast Asia amid growing trade flows.

Global logistics operator Rhenus Group is increasing its investment in Southeast Asia, strengthening its position on key international corridors. The growth of cargo traffic in the region, driven by the China+1 strategy and growing demand for flexible and sustainable logistics solutions, is making Southeast Asia one of the world’s leading trade hubs. According to IATA, by September 2025, air freight volumes between Europe and Asia grew by 12.4% year-on-year, while trade between China and ASEAN increased to RMB 3.67 trillion, confirming the shift in global cargo flows toward the region.

In 2025, Rhenus launched new air logistics gateways in Singapore and Bangkok, expanding its existing hub in Kuala Lumpur. These hubs optimize cargo flows within Southeast Asia and connect the region with key global destinations: Kuala Lumpur receives cargo from Europe and forwards it to Oceania, Singapore handles incoming cargo from Asia and Oceania for onward shipment to the Americas, and Bangkok facilitates exports to Europe and strengthens multimodal capabilities within the region. All hubs are digitally enabled, including online tracking, electronic documents, and smart logistics platforms.

Rhenus emphasizes that further infrastructure expansion in Southeast Asia will be an important part of the company’s long-term strategy. Through scalability, the implementation of sustainable solutions, and increased operational flexibility, Rhenus aims to become a key partner for businesses reorienting their supply chains toward the fast-growing APAC markets.
