Global logistics specialist Rhenus is enhancing its footprint in Denmark through the acquisition of Modul Transport, a Danish road, sea, and air transport expert. This strategic move supplements Rhenus’ existing Danish operations, which were bolstered by the acquisition of warehousing specialist DKI in late 2022. With these expansions, Rhenus is well-positioned to deliver comprehensive logistics solutions across various transport modes to its Scandinavian clientele.
Modul Transport, renowned for its European Road Freight Groupage services and expertise in Air and Ocean Cargo, will become part of Rhenus Road Freight on August 30, 2023. Operating from Copenhagen and Vejle in Denmark for over 40 years, Modul Transport’s acquisition brings a robust Road Freight Groupage service into the Rhenus Group’s portfolio, strengthening its European Road Freight network and enabling faster lead times for customers in the region.
This acquisition underscores Rhenus’ commitment to Northern Europe’s development, aligning with its acquisitions in Denmark and Sweden in recent years. With the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel under construction, set to revolutionize logistics connectivity between Germany and Denmark, Rhenus aims to be a key player in facilitating trade throughout the region. As the tunnel completion will significantly reduce lead times between Germany and Northern Europe, Denmark emerges as an attractive market for investments and new business ventures.
