DP World to invest £1bn in London Gateway expansion.

DP World has announced plans for a £1 billion ($1.3 billion) expansion of London Gateway Port, aiming to make it the UK’s largest container port within the next five years. The project will see two new shipping berths built, bringing the total to six, capable of handling the world’s largest container ships. A second rail yard will also be created to handle the expected growth in container traffic.

Declaration on decarbonization of shipping signed.

At the Hamburg Sustainable Development Conference (HSC), representatives of various ports, international shipping companies, green fuel producers, shipbuilders and logistics companies signed a declaration on the decarbonization of global shipping. The signatories included CMA CGM Germany, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, the ports of Los Angeles, Tanger, Antwerp, Barcelona and others.

The Dutch delegation visited the port of Kuryk to develop cooperation.

A delegation of leading Dutch companies visited Port Kuryk LLP as part of the trade mission “Port Development and Logistics” organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kazakhstan and the Netherlands Agency for Enterprise. The visit was aimed at familiarizing themselves with the port of Kuryk, which is an important part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

Hamburg and Singapore signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in the areas of digitalization, decarbonization and cybersecurity. The signing took place in the presence of the First Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Zentscher, and the documents were signed by HPA CEO Jens Meyer and MPA CEO Teo Eng Dih.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited the ports of Aktau and Kuryk.

As part of a working trip to the Mangistau region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk, getting acquainted with the transport and logistics potential of the region. During a visit to the Kuryk port, he learned that since the beginning of the year, the volume of cargo transshipment has exceeded 1.5 million tons, and by the end of the year it is planned to reach 2.2 million tons. Completion of dredging works and the launch of a grain terminal are also expected, which will increase the port’s potential capacity to six million tons per year.
