Deputy General Director for Commerce of KTZ Express U.A. Orazov took part in official negotiations with representatives of leading Croatian companies as part of the visit of the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan M.A. Nurtleu to the Republic of Croatia.
JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) announced plans to complete the construction of five new terminals by 2025 and four more by 2026. This decision is aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan’s transit potential, increasing transportation volumes and stabilizing prices for cargo transportation, the company’s press service reported.
A meeting with the delegation of the international port of Xi’an from China was held at the office of Azerbaijan Railways JSC (ADY). Head of ADY Rovshan Rustamov emphasized the active cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in the framework of transportation along the Middle Corridor. An important milestone was the recent dispatch of the first export railway cargo from Baku to China.
The Lithuanian government has approved the engineering infrastructure development plan for the Rail Baltica railway hub in Panevezys and has begun the process of land acquisition for public needs, which will last until the end of 2027. According to the plan, an international passenger station designed to handle up to 4,800 passengers per day will be built in the western part of the city, next to the transport hub.
According to the results of 10 months of 2024, the Almaty freight transportation department improved 13 operational indicators, fulfilling 10 out of 15 key plans. The handling volume reached 15.4 million tons, which is 113% compared to the same period in 2023, and freight turnover with China increased by 13%, reaching 26.5 million tons. Significant growth was noted on international routes through the Altynkol (+10%) and Dostyk (+15%) points. Exports and imports also show a stable increase – by 14% and 10%, respectively.
SBB Cargo International opened its subsidiary SBB Cargo France, based in Alsace, and received the safety certificate from the European Railway Agency on 21 November. This will enable the company to launch freight services across France with the next schedule change, expanding the transport capacity on the Rhine-Alpine Corridor.
ADY Express signed a number of key agreements to strengthen international cooperation at the Logitrans Türkiye 2024 exhibition in Istanbul. Among the main achievements was the signing of a memorandum of strategic partnership with China’s Neptun Logistics LTD, based in Shenzhen. The document envisages the development of container train services for cargo transportation between China and Europe via the Middle Corridor, which will increase the efficiency and speed of logistics operations.
Construction of a new ICE depot has begun in Dortmund, costing over 400 million euros. The complex will be located on the site of a former freight station and will provide jobs for 500 employees. Completion is scheduled for 2027.
Several European freight operators are expanding their services and partnerships to strengthen cross-border rail connectivity.
JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy presented the project “High-precision positioning of mobile diagnostic tools (MSD)”, aimed at improving traffic safety and optimizing infrastructure maintenance. Thanks to the new system, the accuracy of detecting faults on the tracks has been improved to one meter, which significantly reduces the time to eliminate them.
