Amid shifting cargo dynamics catalyzed by the conflict in Ukraine, the Port of Riga witnesses a notable transformation in its cargo landscape. As energy transit cargo dwindles, containers emerge as the primary cargo group, driving a surge in container-related services. Notably, SIA “Rīgas Centrālais Termināls” (RCT), a subsidiary of JSC “Riga Port” group, stands out for its concerted efforts in developing the container repair segment within the port.

Klemens Materi, Project Manager for Corporate Development and Strategy at Duisburger Hafen, said that the history of the port in Duisburg dates back to 1816, and the company itself was registered as a joint stock company in 1926. In 2001, the “duisport” trademark was approved, under which the company became known throughout the world. Ownership of the port is divided between North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Duisburg.

Daniel Jarnea, Head of Marketing at Constanta Port Administration, reviewed the latest developments in the Port of Constanta and its role over the past two years.

Ketevan Oragvelidze, Marketing Manager of Batumi International Container Terminal, spoke on the topic “Growing the potential of Georgia as a sea and land transport hub.”

Przemysłowe Wharf in Gdańsk’s Inner Port is set for significant upgrades, with the commencement of seabed reinforcement and fender line replacement projects. Valued at nearly PLN 28 million, this investment aims to deepen the technical capacity of the quay to 10 meters, bolstering cargo handling capabilities for operators.

Mario Escobar, Business Development Manager of APM Terminals, provided an update on the company’s activities in Georgia. Globally, APM Terminals operates in 35 countries with 62 marine terminals, and is expanding with three new projects, bringing the total number of terminals to 65. Although Poti is one of the existing terminals, the company has expansion plans in Georgia.
