In May 2025, the first dry port in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi Dry Port, will begin operating in Tbilisi. The project is being implemented by AD Ports Group (UAE), which has previously invested in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The port received permission from the Georgian Railway Agency to receive and process cargo by rail in accordance with the new requirements that come into force on January 1, 2025.
UAE port and logistics operator AD Ports has acquired a 60% stake in the Tbilisi Dry Port logistics complex in the Georgian capital, according to an agreement with project initiator Inveco. The complex is expected to begin operations in October, with direct rail links to the ports of Poti and Batumi, 335 km and 380 km away, respectively.
SIA “Jaunmīlgrāvja ostas kompānija,” a prominent stevedoring firm specializing in timber cargo at the Port of Riga, recently concluded its ambitious two-year initiative, “Green Innovations with Digitized Loading Process.” Focused on enhancing cargo handling speed and energy efficiency, the project featured the installation of an electric-powered crane and the implementation of a specialized system for digitizing and automating weighing, handling, and storage processes.
