Tsuneishi Shipbuilding launched Japan’s first hydrogen-powered tugboat.

The Tsuneishi Shipbuilding shipyard has launched Japan’s first hydrogen-powered tugboat. The vessel is equipped with two 12-cylinder engines and can use either hydrogen or traditional fuel, which will reduce CO₂ emissions by about 60%.

The tugboat is equipped with special tanks for storing hydrogen under high pressure. Eco-friendly Japanese steel was used in the construction of the vessel, which also reduces the overall carbon footprint. The characteristics of the new vessel: length – 38 m, width – 9.6 m, draft – 4.2 m, gross tonnage – less than 300 tons.
