ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has introduced a new direct train connection between Vienna and Duisburg in Germany. The return journey will operate twice a week, strengthening intermodal flows between Austria and Germany.
The new route enables the transport of containers, swap bodies, lift trailers and dangerous goods. It reduces the load on the existing Budapest-Duisburg route and ensures smooth integration with logistics routes to Hungary, Italy and Turkey.
There are also direct connections to terminals in Austria, Budapest (Bilk), Istanbul (Halkali) and Verona (Sona). The company notes that the new service promotes more efficient use of transport resources and increases planning reliability for customers.
