Companies and institutions of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, playing a key role in the energy sector in Poland, have signed the LIBRA (Safety and Development Line) agreement. On behalf of the Port of Gdańsk Authority, it was signed by Alan Aleksandrowicz, Vice President for Finance and Security, and Krzysztof Kaczmarek, Vice President for Infrastructure. The project also involves the Port of Gdynia Authority, PGZ Naval Shipyard, Energa-Operator, and other regional organizations.
The initiative, supported by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk and Governor Beata Rutkiewicz, is aimed at developing the region’s energy infrastructure. As part of the Pomeranian 2030 strategy, the agreement provides for the construction of energy islands, support for renewable energy sources, and increased energy efficiency. It will also speed up the implementation of key investments, increase the share of “green” energy, and ensure a stable energy supply for businesses and the population.
The Port of Gdańsk Authority is actively preparing for the implementation of onshore power supply (OPS) systems in accordance with EU requirements, which will come into force in 2030. The conducted studies made it possible to determine the parameters and cost of the project (from PLN 33 to PLN 75 million). In addition, the port is participating in the largest Baltic project in the Baltic region, Baltica 2, to build a wind farm with a capacity of 1.5 GW, which will provide energy to 2.5 million households. As part of the project, the port has already begun construction of an offshore wind power terminal, the completion of which is planned for 2026.
