The Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev held talks with leading Chinese companies in Beijing ahead of the 12th meeting of the Kazakhstan-China Cooperation Committee. The main focus was on the development of transport infrastructure, increasing freight transit and attracting investment. The creation of an aviation hub was discussed with the President of CAMC Engineering Li Haixin, and the synchronization of actions to modernize border crossings was discussed with the Secretary of the Tacheng County Party Committee Zhi Xianwei.
Considerable attention was paid to investment projects. During a meeting with the Managing Partner of Chinacai Finance Investment Co., Ltd. Lin Jianjun, the parties expressed interest in creating a technology and logistics park with investments of $1 billion, as well as in the construction of a temporary storage warehouse at the Bakhty checkpoint. In negotiations with the General Director of China Silk Road Fund Cai Xuexun, financing for the modernization of Kazakhstan’s road, rail and port infrastructure was discussed.
In addition, the Minister discussed localization of production of road construction equipment with representatives of XCMG, and development of the airport in Turkestan with China Henan Aviation. Prospects for port infrastructure were discussed with member of the board of directors of SP Qingdao Port Group Zhang Baohua, and projects for the construction of railways and port facilities were discussed with Chairman of China Communications Construction Company Wang Tongzhou. The negotiations resulted in agreements on expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects.
