Port of Gdansk: record cargo volumes and steady growth.

In 2024, the Port of Gdansk confirmed its status as the largest seaport in Poland, handling 77.4 million tons of cargo and receiving 3,559 commercial vessels. The company’s revenue reached a record PLN 264 million, which is 24% more than in 2023. The key growth areas were liquid fuels (+5%), general cargo (+2%) and container shipping (+10%). Excluding coal, the total transshipment volume amounted to 69.5 million tons, which is 2.8% more than last year.

The change in the structure of cargo transportation is due to global trends and the impact of the crisis in the energy market. Liquid fuels accounted for 51% of the total cargo volume (almost 40 million tons), followed by general cargo and containers (30.2%), coal (10.2%), as well as grain and other bulk cargo. The Baltic Hub container terminal, the largest in the Baltic region, handled 2.25 million TEU. The number of passenger traffic also increased – the Port of Gdansk received 60 cruise ships (+18 compared to 2023) and 293 ferries.

Financial stability allows the port to actively invest in development. Work is underway on a development strategy until 2060 with an emphasis on sustainable development and environmental initiatives.
