Hapag-Lloyd has reached a historic milestone in its fleet expansion. In February 2024, the company put the 2,433 TEU Little Concert into service, chartered from Greek shipowner Minerva. This move allowed the carrier’s charter fleet to exceed the 1 million TEU mark for the first time. The new container ship is already in operation on the Taiwan Express (TWX) service connecting Singapore, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Tanjung Pelepas.
The growth of the charter fleet is part of the company’s major expansion. In January, Hapag-Lloyd surpassed the 300 vessel mark for the first time, increasing its total capacity by 18.7% since the beginning of the year. The operator’s fleet now numbers 2.3 million TEU, strengthening its market position and increasing the reliability of its services.
The company intends to maintain a high level of charter capacity and continue to develop its global network, strengthening its position in international shipping.
