The 87th session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee (ITC) was held in Geneva, which became key in the implementation of the Strategy until 2030. The event was attended by representatives of more than 20 countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, EU countries, as well as international organizations and businesses. The main topics of discussion were transport policy, economic cooperation and sustainable development of the industry.

The high-level segment “Achievements and challenges of inland transport on the way to 2030” included two ministerial discussions: the Netherlands presented initiatives on climate action, and Turkey – on transport connectivity. Participants discussed road safety, the integration of environmentally friendly solutions and the modernization of infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the development of transport corridors between Europe, the Caucasus and Asia.
The Secretary General of the PS MC TRACECA, Asset Asavbayev, noted that the organization is developing a strategy for 2027–2036, calling for joint work to eliminate bottlenecks and infrastructure problems. In the following days of the session, it is planned to consider specific measures that will help accelerate the development of the transport sector and increase its environmental sustainability.
