CargoBeamer opens a new rail route between Germany and Italy.

CargoBeamer is expanding its rail network with a new route between Kornwestheim (Germany) and Domodossola (Italy). From 11 February, three weekly connections will operate on this route: from Kornwestheim on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from Domodossola on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new line will complement the existing Kaldenkirchen – Domodossola route, strengthening the company’s position in the field of environmentally friendly freight transport.

The route is focused on the transport of all types of semi-trailers, including non-crane trailers, containers, swap bodies, refrigerated trailers and tankers. Using rail transport allows logistics companies to optimise costs, reduce their dependence on drivers and trucks, and reduce CO₂ emissions by 80% compared to road transport. Operational functions on the German side will be carried out by the DUSS terminal in Kornwestheim, while in Italy the CargoBeamer-Terminal in Domodossola will take over.

According to Boris Timm, COO of CargoBeamer: “By integrating the economically vibrant Stuttgart/Kornwestheim region into our network, we are providing an essential link for businesses to leverage the benefits of rail between Germany and Italy. At the same time, this route supports the development of our Domodossola terminal into one of Europe’s most advanced facilities for semi-trailer handling.”
