ÖBB Rail Cargo Group increases the frequency of the Belgrade-Rijeka route to two services per week.

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is strengthening its position in the Western Balkans market by increasing the frequency of rail services between Belgrade and Rijeka to two round trips per week. The move aims to increase the efficiency and flexibility of logistics between Serbia and Croatia.

The TransFER Belgrade-Rijeka route connects the Nelt terminal near Belgrade with the Adriatic Gate container terminal in Croatia’s largest port, Rijeka. This ensures shorter transit times, a direct connection to Serbia’s rail network and an environmentally sustainable alternative to road transport in the region.

RCG now transports up to 76 TEU per trip, including 20-, 40- and 45-foot containers. Rail transport on this route allows for significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to road transport. In addition, the company offers additional services: first and last kilometre organisation and regular updates on the status of the cargo.
