According to the results of 2024, the volume of freight transportation by rail between Kazakhstan and China exceeded 32 million tons, which became a new historical maximum. Exports from Kazakhstan increased by 1 million tons, reaching 13.7 million tons, the main goods were ore, metals and grain.
Transit traffic through Kazakhstan increased by 19% and amounted to 15.3 million tons. Particular attention was drawn to the growth of container transit to Europe, which grew by 43%. The opening of the Kazakhstan terminal at the Xi’an International Dry Port played a key role in this.
More than 300 container trains passed through the terminal in Xi’an and the port of Aktau in a year – 30 times more than in 2023. This was an important step in strengthening the transport corridor and increasing the capacity of routes between Asia and Europe.
