In 2024, Ukrainian seaports handled 97.2 million tons of cargo, significantly exceeding the figures for previous years. According to the USPU, the main growth drivers were grain and ore cargo with transshipment volumes of 60.3 million tons and 18.5 million tons, respectively. Exports amounted to 88.1 million tons, and imports – 8.8 million tons.
The ports of Greater Odessa played a key role, through which 79.9 million tons of cargo were transported via the Ukrainian sea corridor. A total of 3,138 vessels were handled. The Danube ports handled 17.3 million tons of cargo, but the volumes in the ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaisk decreased compared to the previous year.
Among the ports, Yuzhny leads with a result of 35.55 million tons (versus 10.08 million tons in 2023), followed by Chornomorsk – 26.04 million tons (11.41 million tons) and Odessa – 18.3 million tons (8.41 million tons). The total transshipment volume in 2024 significantly exceeded the 2023 figures (62 million tons), indicating the recovery of the industry.
