Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG has strengthened its cooperation with one of the largest suppliers in the automotive industry by implementing an integrated transport management system (TMS). This step has made logistics processes transparent, predictable and highly efficient.
“Together, we were able to optimise the entire transport chain, for example by harmonising pick-up days, consolidating deliveries and reducing truck and ramp movements,” says Matthias Jelen, Head of Forwarding at the company.
Craiss has been successfully working with this customer for 30 years. In 2023, the company won the idea competition with a solution for route optimization. Thanks to the knowledge of the customer’s processes, Craiss reduced downtimes through time window management and pooled loads to minimize logistics operations. The implementation of the TMS within six months made it possible to integrate IT systems and automate more than 80% of supplier calls, which increased accuracy and reduced labor costs.
The result was a significant optimisation of routes, consolidation of goods in a central warehouse and improvement of operational processes.
“With our precise knowledge of our customers and their processes, we optimised transport routes by combining multiple plant scopes, reduced downtimes through time window management and minimised ramp movements through capacity bundling.,” emphasises Karl-Friedrich Rapp, Head of Transport Logistics at Craiss.
