Port of Rotterdam expands Container Exchange Route network.

One year after the launch of the Container Exchange Route (CER), the project is entering a new phase. In 2025, the Port of Rotterdam Authority will begin building new connections to Distripark Maasvlakte and the ECT Delta/Hutchison Ports Delta II terminals via a central gate system. Work will start at the beginning of the year and will be completed in stages by the end of 2025.

The new connections to the CER will provide access to the system for twelve major logistics operators, including Nippon Express, NeeleVat and Broekman Logistics. The ECT Delta and Hutchison Ports Delta II terminals will be connected via a central gate on Coloradoweg, while Distripark Maasvlakte will receive a similar connection to optimize cargo transportation. These improvements will strengthen the logistics infrastructure and increase the efficiency of the port.

At the same time, the port is investing in the installation of fiber optic lines and electrical networks to support automated systems such as cameras and speed gates. Since the opening of CER in 2023, RWG, ECT Delta and other terminals have already completed more than 20,000 shipments. The expansion of the route contributes to the safety, reliability and sustainability of container shipping in the port area.
